Fundraising Information

In order to swim in this event, each participant 18 years old or more commits to raising at least $100 (including their $25 entry fee) to support Hospice's work in our community. Those between 14 and 17 years old must raise at least $50. But don't feel you have to stop there! See our Fundraising Tips for more information and read below to learn more about this year's incentives to go the extra mile (out of the water!) when raising funds to support Hospice:
  • Swimmers who raise $1,000 will receive a Swim a Mile for Hospice sweat shirt.
  • Swimmers who raise $500 or more will receive a Swim a Mile for Hospice beach towel.
  • Top fundraisers (most money raised by the day of the event by swimmers or boaters) will also be eligible to win fabulous prizes. Check out the prizes page for more information!

Please send pledge money to us as you receive it, making sure that it is identified as sponsoring your swim or boat, i.e. include your name or your team's name. Checks are preferable to cash, but we are certainly not fussy.

Donations can be made in three ways:

1. Online
2. By downloading a donor form and mailing it to Hospice along with your gift.
3. By calling Hospice at (315) 265-3105

Why Your Support is Important
to Hospice

Gifts to Hospice through this event will help ensure that our staff can continue to provide the best possible care for our patients and their families throughout St. Lawrence County.

Gifts to Hospice allow us to provide many services beyond basic hospice care that are not covered by insurance and other sources, like caring for patients and family members without insurance and those who need more expensive medications or treatments.

Gifts allow us to provide respite care so that exhausted family members can get the sleep they need to continue caring for their loved one.

Gifts also support Hospice’s community outreach programs for adults and children who are affected by serious illness and grief.   Here are some examples:

  • The Home Support Program helps individuals with serious illness manage their care at home after a hospital stay.
We are partnering with Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, and Massena Memorial Hospital for this palliative care program.
  • Caregivers Education gives individuals information about caring for a loved one.  Last year, over 500 community members attended programs on Advance Directives, including health care proxies and living wills.
  • When Grief Comes to School trains school staff members to respond effectively to a sudden death in the school community and help students cope with the loss.   In recent years, Hospice grief counselors have offered 15 in-school programs across the County.
Please know how grateful we are for your caring support.
Thank you.
