F.A.Q.s
Q What time should swimmers and boaters arrive?
A Check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. for swimmers and boaters. The swim begins at 8:00 a.m..

Q
Will there be refreshments at the event?
A Yes. Before and after the swim, we will provide participants a light breakfast including fruit, juices, water, coffee, danish and bagels.

Q
May I use fins?
A
Yes

Q
May I use a snorkel and mask?
A You may not use a snorkel and mask since they make it too difficult for lifeguards and paddlers to recognize when a swimmer is in distress.

Q May I use some type of flotation device while I swim?
A No. For safety's sake, you must be a strong enough swimmer to complete the course without this type of assistance.

Q Will there be a rain date?
A There will not be a rain date. To ensure that the event remains safe and fun for all, we will rely on the help of nearly 30 staff and volunteers and many other important support services. Given that we are unable to ensure full participation of all the volunteers and services vital to the safety of the event on two consecutive days, we are planning some fun activities at the Hospice Center at 6805 US 11 in Potsdam, should the swim be cancelled because of unsafe swimming conditions.

Such conditions might include lightning or severe rain. If the weather is unfavorable for swimming, we'll have a celebration at Hospice instead which will include breakfast, music, awards, photos, and more fun! Please check back often as the summer progresses for updates about the plans.

Notice of cancellation of the swim will be posted by 6 a.m. on the morning of the swim on the home page of this website and Hospice's website and emailed to all swimmers, boaters, staff and volunteers who have provided us with an email address.
